From England to Prague, our family road trip (as I detailed in my previous post) whisked us through a night in charming Belgium and Germany´s quaint town of Kessel, before we arrived at the enchanting Hotel Schwaiger in Prague. Nestled in the serene Bubeneč district of Prague 6, this 4-star hotel perfectly blends charm with convenience, positioned just a stone’s throw from the expansive Stromovka Park and a short stroll from historic treasures like Prague Castle, Charles Bridge and Old Town – perfect for families large and small.

Family Friendly Accommodation at Hotel Schwaiger
I had my sights set on Hotel Schwaiger in Prague for over six months prior to our journey and its early interactions with the hotel’s friendly staff ensured that our accommodations were secured, complete with helpful tips such as pre-paying Prague’s city tax.
Our accommodations were thoughtfully arranged to suit our family of five and two medium-sized dogs. Practically speaking, we needed a setup with two bedrooms since our twins, only one year old at the time, were accustomed to co-sleeping with me. This arrangement allowed me to breastfeed them during the night without having to move between different rooms or separate cots. My husband, meanwhile, shared another bedroom with our son Lucas to ensure they both had a comfortable and uninterrupted night’s sleep. Although initially unavailable, the hotel provided an excellent solution by offering us two interconnected rooms. This setup was absolutely fantastic! It filled us with excitement, knowing we could truly relax in ‘holiday mode’ and enjoy plenty of rest.

A Haven for Pet Owners in the Heart of Prague
From the first interaction, Hotel Schwaiger captivated us with its blend of modern service and historical allure. Restored in 2017, the hotel now pairs early 20th-century decor with contemporary comfort, creating a luxurious yet welcoming ambiance.
Furthermore, Hotel Schwaiger stands out as a remarkably pet-friendly establishment in Prague, a rarity for a city where such amenities are not as common as they are in England, France or Germany where there are more pet-friendly options. This luxury hotel’s open-minded approach pleasantly surprised us.

I highly recommend to potential guests, especially those with pets, to consider the location when choosing accommodations. I recommend checking the hotel’s proximity to parks and quiet areas on a map. While I had other favourite places in mind initially, their locations were less than ideal, often situated in busy city centres far from any parks—hardly what one expects on a vacation! In stark contrast, Hotel Schwaiger is ideally located just a two-minute walk from one of the main entrances to Stromovka Park. This vast country park is a favourite among Prague’s residents, appealing to families with children and dogs alike, and is perfect for a range of outdoor activities.
Garden Dining and Celebrations at Hotel Schwaiger’s restaurant ‘V Zahrade´
Another super big plus was that Hotel has a restaurant called ´V Zahrade´ with its lovely garden beautifully planted and decorated by flowers and grow large trees which even more highlight your Prague´s experience and you can enjoy nice and relaxing time after busy time in Old Town and other favourite crowded tourist place. Restaurant V Zahrade offer super delicious food and because super attractive garden space we even organize big family party in Hawaiin style which was prepared and run by restaurant stuff better than I expected and every from our family enjoyed so much this event.
More of that, garden restaurant has a toddler friendly corner with little garden house, some toys and soft mats with safety gates, which was super useful during our meet-up with friends who have also kids so children could play while we could have a lovely chat and enjoy our presence as well.
Cherished Mornings…
Looking back, I loved our stay so much. Each morning, Jacob would pick up breakfast for all of us, which we enjoyed in our apartment. Then, he took the dogs for a longer walk—having a park right around the corner was incredibly convenient. Our dogs are quite energetic, so it was great that they could start their day actively and roam freely (as not all parks allow leash-free walking). After their walk, while the dogs rested contentedly in the hotel’s apartment, we usually met up with family or friends. It was wonderful to reconnect with people we hadn’t seen in ages!

We usually returned to the hotel around 3 or 4 in the afternoon, just in time for our second dog walk (the third took place later in the evening). After some rest and a refreshing shower, we enjoyed a bite to eat. We didn’t head out to the city center every evening; we only went a couple of times, preferring instead to spend several evenings at Hotel Schwaiger with friends. One evening, we even ventured to a local pub across the street, popular with the younger crowd, called ‘Restaurace Na Slamniku‘. It’s a must-visit spot! There, you can sip on Czech beer and admire the historic green tiled stove and fascinating paintings.
Summing Up Our Stay at Hotel Schwaiger
Our week at Hotel Schwaiger in Prague was an unforgettable blend of family-friendly comfort and luxury, perfectly punctuated with pet-friendly conveniences. Nestled in the scenic neighborhood of Bubeneč, just minutes from lush parks and historic sites, the hotel provided a serene retreat after our explorations of the vibrant city. The accommodations were ideally suited for our family, ensuring everyone—from our twins and preschooler to our two dogs—felt right at home. Dining in the hotel’s charming garden restaurant and celebrating with a Hawaiian-themed party added delightful touches to our stay. Reflecting on our stay, it’s clear that Hotel Schwaiger didn’t just host us; it made us feel a part of Prague’s heart. We left enriched and eager to return, carrying with us memories we’ll cherish forever – as our daugther Victoria took her very first step in Hotel Schwaiger!
